The purpose of this page is to challenge me to open my eyes and truly see the world which surrounds me. So often we trudge though our daily routine, too busy or preoccupied to notice the little miracles happening all around us. I hope to capture, through the lens of a camera, glimpses of my sometimes mundane but glorious little world. I will attempt to post one snapshot each day to share with you. Enjoy!

A real live banana tree! This is what I found while on my run this morning... a banana tree nestled within a section of housing. For some reason, I never thought too much about coming across one of these. After doing a little research I've discovered these plants are very common and grow wild along the highways of the islands. The banana is not much of a staple in the Hawaiian diet because they take too long to grow, produce only a small amount per plant and are usually infested with insects. In early times here in the Hawaiian islands, women were forbidden to eat most varieties of bananas. Huh.... I wonder what's up with that?
